As residents of Santa Barbara, we are not strangers to wildfires. The Tea and Gap fires of 2008 reminded us of how vulnerable we are. When a wildfire breaks out, fire chiefs quickly decide on the Anchor Points that will be used as defensible areas in order to stage the fight against the coming fire. These Anchor Points become the hub for preparing and staging, proactively planning and expeditiously reacting to all the different threats that come when engaging a wildfire.
