The Gap Fire threatened thousands of homes and forced many Santa Barbarans to evacuate their homes as it was fought.
The Santa Barbara Chapter of the Red Cross was responsible for coordinating evacuation centers, disaster preparedness teams and disseminating critical information to the community. There were over 100 volunteers and staff managing the various programs and they had to be able to communicate. The Red Cross was able to rely on Anchor Point throughout the crisis to help their employees stay connected. Anchor Point engineers were available throughout the crisis. They were responsive when called after hours and streamlined communication efforts by rapidly deploying pre-configured laptops to team leads. The terminal server and wireless networks allowed Red Cross employees to connect to resources even when away from their desks, providing flexibility at a critical time.

Managing the technology for eight different surgery centers across California and allowing their multiple teams to access shared data is not an easy task. Medbridge Development had a variety of different challenges to address as they worked with doctors and managed their billing processes. Each center would need its own local file and printer server but they needed to share multiple resources such as surgery management software, email servers and web servers. Anchor Point used some creativity to connect Medbridge staff from their different locations in a co-location facility where they housed shared servers to manage an Active Directory forest with a shared Microsoft Exchange server and surgery software servers. Citrix Presentation Server is used to publish various applications over the facility’s high speed Internet connection. A web server is used to publish the doctors ownership agreements and income statements. This scalable solution has also allowed Medbridge the flexibility it requires as new centers are opened or billing clients added.

The Music Academy of the West was 9 months into construction on a new hall on their serene oceanside campus when they realized they had overlooked the data and voice connectivity to their new building. They needed a group who could manage the whole process; plan review, wiring, trenching and extending connectivity for their voice and data networks. Anchor Point responded to their need and was able to connect their new hall without a hiccup and met each of its deadlines. The Music Academy summer students arrived just as the hall opened and Anchor Point’s role shifted quickly to support for the student infrastructure by setting up a wireless network throughout the common areas of the campus. Amidst the transition, Anchor Point migrated the Music Academy to a new ISP and telecom provider and brought clarity to 12 monthly phone bills and several errant DNS records.

When Santa Barbara based real estate development company, TynanGroup Inc, was looking to create a FaceBook intranet site for its employees, Anchor Point recommended a solution the company already owned. They took the time to listen to the project managers and employees and game plan for the most usable type of site. It was determined that Microsoft Sharepoint server could do all that TynanGroup needed; from individual sites to project photos to an employee forum. The forum allowed the company’s more senior role players to inform the younger and greener employees. This connection was invaluable. It allowed Project Managers who work all over the country to feel and be more connected to the corporate office and the site offices.

Thanks to some new tools, Anchor Point has extended its horizons. Dr. Eugene Wolf of Wolf Orthopaedics was unable to find a support company for his office based in San Francisco, CA. He came to Anchor Point wondering if his staff would receive timely and responsive support even if they were located five hours north. Because of its remote monitoring and remote control software, Anchor Point has been able to provide support for the past 4 years to Wolf Orthopaedics. Its engineers have continuously surprised employees with the outstanding service that they are able to perform from so far away.
